11n 3G USB Router configuration; Solwise Part No WL-USBWIFIRPT-3000; USB to WiFi Repeater AP.

Date: 2015-June-14

Using Solwise Outdoor USB Panel 12dBi 3070 ic; Part no NET-WL-USB-UTP2470-12.

I returned these two products because the DNS would not work most of the time and the antenna would not work with Windows7.

The Quick Start Guide and full User Manual omitted the instructions about which Connection Mode should be used.

The USB-Wireless-Card should use “Cable/Dynamic IP (DHCP)”.

Optionally the Primary and Secondary “DNS Server” can be public servers provided by Google Inc, namely “8.8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4”. You can try to let the DNS Server be provided by the DHCP connection. If your connection tells you that a web site cannot be found, try the Google Public DNS servers.

When you want to change the WiFi connection to a new outside source, you need to open the Router Configuration Web pages at 192.168.2.1 and log in. This means that your PC or mobile device must be connected to the local WiFi Router, named by default “11N 3G Router_AP” and with a browser open page 192.168.2.1.

Select the TAB Advanced and then Menu line USB WLAN Profile.Wait for the page to open. Sometime the router hangs, and
you have to close the browser and open the router page again.

It sometimes works better to save a New Configuration, and secondly to come back to the USB WLAN Profile page, and
select  it and click “Activate”.

The Solwise web site is www.solwise.co.uk

By the way, I spent a few hours trying to find this information on the web and in www.solwiseforum.co.uk without success.

Supreme Court rules that human genes cannot be patented (+video) – CSMonitor.com

The US Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that human genes and the information they contain cannot be patented by medical researchers, a holding that is expected to make it easier to engage in genetic research and cheaper for medical patients to obtain genetic testing.
he unanimous decision came in a case involving patents protecting genes with certain genetic mutations that scientists say can signal a higher risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women.
